i'm sure it will slow down. seeing as you said that you are "concerned about wearing makeup in high school next year", you are VERY VERY VERY VERY young!!!! like SERIOUSLY!! you're what? 12 or 13? don't worry about it!! i know from experience that make up will make it worse! and well, from your picture, you don't really have it that bad! it's just a normal part of being a teenager!
don't be too self concious because you will see that pretty much everyone has acne! whether it be a litle or a lot.

If the gel doesnt work, you can also maybe start a short anti biotic course, I had fairly bad acne (mostly on my back and chest area) and I was put on tetracycline and it really seemed to help and clear it up. A lot of people say that chocolate causes acne but apparently scientifically thats not the case. Wearing a lot of cover up make up though can block pores and further cause breakouts. Maybe your doctor can refer you to a dermatologist, my doc was a dermatologist and she was very, very good. Good luck and don't be too self conscious, many teens and young adults have acne at some stage in their lives.

Adults do get acne. I have had it in one form or another since I was 8 years old, and I am 44 now. Teenagers usually have it worse because of the hormonal activity. Hormones make it worse, and as everyone knows, hormones are raging in teenager. And boys usually have it worse because testosterone makes it worse than estrogen. I wouldn't suggest trying to cover it up with makeup, I tried that and the makeup just cakes up around the lesions and makes it look more obvious. You said you're getting stuff from the doctor. Is this a dermatologist? If not, and your parents' insurance will cover it, I highly suggest going to a dermatologist . If you are going to a derm, and what you're using isn't working after trying it for a month or two, go back and say it isn't working and ask if there is something else you can try. I did that several times with my derm and she always had other alternatives. They have much more knowledge, and if what you are using isn't working, they have many more options to try. Everyone react differently to treatments, so it might take some time to find what works for you. I had good luck with Zoderm cleanser and Clenia cream, but everyone is different. I personally wouldn't suggest Accutane for your acne, yours is not severe enough for it, and the many side effects would outweigh the benefits in your case, but if your derm recommends it for you, it does work, but you will have to put up with the side effects, and you cannot get pregnant under any circumstances while on it.
