I used to suffer from bad acne too, so I feel your pain. For spot treatments, Benzoyl Peroxide (like in Clean & Clear Persa Gel) works fastest but it’s VERY drying, so only use it once a day (nighttime is probably best). It can bleach ot fabrics so make sure it’s fully absorbed before laying on your pillow at night. Applying an ice cube covered by a paper towel on larger bumps will help reduce redness and swelling too. I’ve heard some people like using Visine to get the redness out as well. I’ve never had luck with this. Crumbling up an aspirin and applying it to spots at night also can work, since aspirin contains a form of salicylate which is another good acne fighter.
Good luck!
Like you, I too had relatively bad acne. Years of using medicated facewashes did nothing for me. Maybe temporarily they helped, but as one patch cleared, I’d get another breakout. I came across http://herbal-remedy-for-acne.com and it really helped me. It’s pretty unorthodox, but it clears you from the inside, and I haven’t had a breakout since. Took 4 days to clear mine which I was astounded by.
Ok i recommend going to a dermatologist if its really bothering you, they will most likely prescribe you accutane. Also there’s another treatment called Clearpores which is similar to Proactiv but its cheaper, and comes with high quality ingredidents, here is a link to a review for Clearpores if your interested http://www.bestacneproduct.org/
