Does Food Really Cause Acne Breakouts?

Dr. Schultz will discuss the “forbidden” foods that supposedly cause acne and if there’s really any merit behind these accusations. Perhaps you’ll be eating chocolate again right after this episode… We can, however, say that for sure, consistent consumption of iodine and seaweeds and spinach can cause acne. Those forbidden foods that we’ve all heard about—chocolate, fried food, nuts, caffeine, colas, fried chicken, pizza, by and large do not cause people to break out with pimples. So, at this point in your life, if you haven’t seen a relationship between eating those foods one day and getting pimples the next day, then there’s probably no reason that you need to avoid them if you have acne.

It has been established that consistent consumption of iodine-heavy foods can cause acne (e.g., shellfish, seaweed, etc.), but other than those, you should be in the clear. Of course, if after every time that you eat pizza a breakout occurs, than you may be in the very small majority that is affected by certain foods, but that’s very rare. Bon appetite!
Fuck the doctors and stupid myths :
Whoever read my comment then I give the best advice that keeps away acne and it makes you look good . Just Dont eat anything . Just for example some days and then you see the result . Drink lots of water and and do sport , do not squeeze or scratch your acne . Eat only vegetables and fruitis. No sweets , junk food etc.
wow this doctors a fcking fool maybe people that have clear skin diets dont effect but diet is so important with people that have acne this is exactly what my doctor said but its fcking bs u dont even deserve to be a doctor u old bitch when i cut out dairy and fried foods my acne gets atleast 40 percent better sometimes 75 this guys a fool
As I mention in this and expand in other episodes, a small portion of the population may find that they are in fact sensitive to some foods, and if you fall into that category than by all means, avoid eating those foods. However, any major link between non-iodine foods and acne has been shown to apply to less than 5% of the acne population which clearly you are a part of. The fact that you have identified trigger foods for you is fortunate as it empowers you to partly control your outbreaks.
alright well i guess im partly sorry for calling you a old bitch that was harsh on my half but i think its more then 5 percent of acne sufferers that eating crap effects when i used to eat dairy i would break out horribly and ive read alot of sites and comments and its the same with alot of people

i dont know what that means but i just went 42 days drinking only water eating fruits and veggies and kidney beans for my protein i didnt eat not even one bite drink any dairy meat or soy foods for 42 days straight and my skin cleared up ALOT i remember one week not getting 1 pimple on my face,however i then gave up because my diet was to tough for yesterday i ate 6 pieces of white bread half a jar of nutella quater of a ice cream 2 liter cereal and milk and i broke out today with 5 new zits lol
what some ignorant people here dont get is that what might be happening is that u are allergic to some of does food(consult an allergy dr) and u may not even know it, u should get all this test done for food allergies etc!because that might be whats causing alot of the breakouts, like the DR, explains here chocolate, greasy foods etc! its just myths!!! and stop offending people if you dont like it dont watch it! he didnt even need to respond but since hes an educated man he did, unlike others!
well i apoligised to him already and if your breakouts are cause my allergic reactions to some foods then your just proving my point im not saying chocolate makes everyone in the world break out just people with acne prone skin everyone is different but thanks for the allergic tests advice i am probably going to look into that

I eat a lot of stuff and none of them made me break out including fries. I think the only thing it can make me break out is sth like.. I use my hand to eat French fries then I use my fingers again unintentionally touch my face
The diet definitely has an effect on the overall functioning of all body parts….nothing can deny it.
Infact, if we eat very nutritious food & at the same time do all the external treatments, then it definitely the healing is much much faster.
if there is a day i pig out on high sugar foods…. my skin definatly lets me know about it… diet does effect the skin… no doubt
I started eating junk food in moderation like a lil everyday to avoid a binge later thinking It was a great way of life with no deprivation; however, it has reeked havoc on my skin. I’m going to stop eating my lil portion of junk everyday, b/c all that’s been happening is new pimples surfacing.
