@pinkiefille No you should not because it will interfere with your healing and as a matter of fact, plastic surgeons won’t perform facial procedures while their patients are on Accutane.
@Mr89Nef If in 2008 you weighed more than 180 pounds then you may have been under-treated. Second courses of Accutane should be longer than the standard five months and greater than the standard daily dose of 1mg per 1kg of body weight. Consult with your dermatologist.
AAAAAAAAMMMMEEEENN people!!!!!!!!
Dear Dr. Schultz,
I am on 30mg of Roaccutane and I have experienced low back pain and also neck pain(it is quite bad when i lay down-when my muscles release,etc.), How common is this side effect and also, will this pain go away after Accutane course without damaging my spine? Thank You in advance.
Yours sincerely, N.K.
My dermatologist told me that accutane doesn’t cure acne. I’m scheduled to go on it, but I was just wondering why my dermatologist said accutane wasn’t a cure. Is she just pulling my leg? Seems like she does’t want my acne gone. She also told me that I can still get acne after accutane and that some people have acne all their life. I hope she’s really trying to treat my acne and isn’t liying just so she can keep me as a patient. Should I see another dermatologist?
Hello doctot,
I was wondering if Accutane is off the market?
is blood work necessary to be on Accutane ?
@dermTVdotcom
hi doctor,
im on a course of accutane now and have been taking it for about a month and a half,and recently my sex drive has went away down and i cant seem to keep an erection with my girfriend,is this normal or should i stop the course?
Thankyou
Does it help acne on your back?
Hi! im currently weigh 60kg and on 20mg of roaccutane, was on 10mg for a month. been on 20mg for 10mg.. I really dont know why my derm increased my dosage. Can you please tell me why he must’ve done that… again i would like to ask you doc for any advice you might have for the dryness of my lips cuased by accutane.. Help,,,.
@11Branx Your dosage was most likely increased because in order for Accutane to be effective, one must take 1mg/1kg for four to five months, and therefore, the target dose of an individual who weighs 60kg/day is 60mg. In order to avoid flareups of acne, it’s best to increase the dose gradually as it sounds like your doctor is doing. Regarding the dry lips, any and all emollients/lip balms/Vaseline/Aquaphor may be helpful.
@jjweew Yes.
so whats the chance of accutane keeping your acne awaydoes it depend on the dosage? and can it cause you to have a breakout in the first two days, cause i did four big nodules and i only usually get them every now and then, so it must be working right or is it odd to get an initial breakout in the first few days.
@cham19190
yes, they do bloodwork before yur treatment,and every month, becuz
accutane can effect yur liver, but it usually doesnt, its just a precaution
@LaysiGarcia
yes, the side effects are so serious, that only board certified
dermatoligists can subscribe it. also, they have to be in the
iPledge program
@WsternCivilization
well, as a dermatoligist she has to make sure you dont
think of it as a miracle drug or anything. you wont see results right away,,
and yur acne can come back,,but if you have a total relapse where it
goes back to before the treatment, really bad. you can go on a second accutane
session,,and that should get rid of it for good. by no means is there a cure for
acne, but accutane if the closest there is..
@zackkkk23
hmm,,yes on accutane it usually gets a little worse before it
gets better…but then it starts slowly getting better. just remember that
theres about a 1 in 5 chance of getting yur acne back,,but a second accutane
session usually takes care of it.
@11Branx
well accutane is harsh on the body,, so yur dermatoligist
was just starting low so yur body eases into higher doses,,its
nothing to worry about
@jjweew yes it takes away you acne where ever you have it
@zackkkk23 Acctune cures acne after one complete course in 75 – 80% of patients. A complete course requires taking 1mg / 1kg of body weight for between four and five months. If at the outset of treatment you are given your target dose of 1 mg / 1 kg, some people break out and therefore I start my patients at a very low dose and increase it gradually to prevent those breakouts.
while taking accutane is it normal to start feeling back pain? if you do what you should do?
@christie121 People on accutane sometimes have an increased occurrence of joint pains (“arthralgias”) especially after exertion or exercise. You should discuss your pain with your doctor to insure that it and the context in which it is occurring is consistent with the arthralgias mentioned above.
Hello doctor…ive been taking accutane for almost a month.. i wanted to ask you a question… i work out almost every day.. and i take a pre work-out shake called superpump 250..it does not contain vitamin A.. just helps me to focus more and to have more energy..can i still take it,even though im on accutane? Thank You
avoid this stuff if possible, after a month of use i went from a happy kid in to severe depression and had a nasty hallusination experience to go with it, i was on sedative to sleep and it wasn’t until 2 weeks after stopping the drug that it started to subside and i was returning to normal, i still experience some side effects of the drug, not the mind altering ones but physical skin conditions, look in to other options before trying this
Can you smoke cigarettes while on accutane?
